Welcome to my world...

I was lucky enough to stumble into a career as a Software Developer just out of college, and it provided me with many years of rewarding challenges. After spending more than 20 years developing, I decided to pursue my other passion: writing.

Jumping into technical writing was a no-brainer. As a developer, I'd created plenty of user guides and written volumes of documentation. But I've also discovered another avenue for my writing skills: marketing. No one is more surprised at that than me! I always thought marketing was the driest writing I could image, but the digital revolution has changed that. Turns out that social media content and SEO blogging are right up my alley, so I'm now focusing on those endeavors, while continuing to keep a toe in the software world. Best of both!
So, how does all of that relate to this website? I built this blog originally to give myself some practice in writing and publishing. I keep it going because I like encouraging people to be adventurers. Not the big kind, like south pole explorers or cliff divers. I'm all about the little adventures. Discovering state parks, exploring local museums, kayaking quiet rivers, treasure hunting at thrift stores - you see what I'm talking about, right? Life is full of tiny adventures. As A.A. Milne said in Winnie the Pooh,
"Christopher Robin was sitting outside his door, putting on his Big Boots. As soon as he saw the Big Boots, Pooh knew that an Adventure was going to happen, and he brushed the honey off his nose with the back of his paw, and spruced himself up as well as he could, so as to look Ready for Anything".
You see, I'm Christopher Robin in this analogy, putting on the Big Boots. I hope that when you read this blog, you channel Pooh, spiffing up to be Ready for Anything, and following along on my Adventures. And I hope it inspires you to get your own pair of Big Boots, and go looking for your own Adventures.

Meanwhile, on this site, I'll be dumping the random wanderings of my mind in my blog posts. I hope you enjoy some of it, I hope it doesn't offend often, I hope you'll share your feedback. There's a contact form below, and a comments section on each blog entry.

Happy Reading!
